Chalet Weidli

Cozy Chalet with a view
At the two Simmen

In the Bernese Oberland, where the valleys are wide and the mountains mighty, two rivers with the same name meet in one place: the two Simmen. The place, which is logically called Zweisimmen, forms the gateway and centre to a huge ski and hiking region.

The cosy and charming Chalet Weidli is situated in a quiet location on the edge of Zweisimmen - a perfect place to read, relax and plan excursions to one of the most beautiful regions of the Bernese Oberland.

FERIENHAUS

THE HOLIDAY HOME

Detached, charmingly furnished chalet built in 1971 with two bedrooms on two floors, living room, open kitchen, bathroom and open gallery with additional bed. Enjoy a fully equipped kitchen and house. A covered terrace with radiant heaters and movable glass panels that can be fully opened invites you to linger. The property is surrounded by a well-kept garden. Garden furniture and a barbecue grill are available for summer pleasures. Two uncovered parking spaces are available for guests, as well as a laundry machine and a tumble dryer in the basement. The holiday home has basic TV, a DVD/BluRay player, streaming facilities and free Internet (WiFi).

The chalet is situated in a quiet and sunny location on the edge of the forest, 10-15 minutes on foot from the village centre of Zweisimmen (with many shopping facilities) and from the station of the Rinderberg gondola lift. It is about 20 minutes by car to Gstaad and Lenk, 45 minutes to Thun. Zweisimmen has good rail connections to Berne, Gstaad and Montreux.

The Chalet Weidli is suitable for two to a maximum of four persons. The bed in the upper bedroom (6.5m2) is 1.40m wide. The bedroom downstairs (8m2) offers a bed with 1.60m width. The additional bed in the open gallery is 1.40m wide. Because of the open gallery and the staircase without railing, it is not suitable for families with small children under the age of 5 years. We, the owners of the Chalet, refuse any liability in case of an accident!

Pets on request.

GESCHICHTE

ABOUT THE CHALET

The chalet was built by Erna and Ernst Schmitz as a holiday home. The Schmitz family spent many holidays and weekends here. After the passing of her husband, Erna made the Weidli her home. When she had passed, too, her eldest daughter Sonja Graber-Schmitz took over the house. Meanwhile it is used by her son Jan Graber and relatives as a place for writing, contemplating and making music.

The house lives on the love for details, selected furniture, the open architecture as well as the beautiful view of the valley and the mountains. The walls are decorated with works of art by Swiss artists. In the bookshelves and in the farmer's cupboard, works by great writers, poets and thinkers as well as entertaining books and many DVDs are waiting for the guests. Since the owners also use the house privately, they ask for a careful handling of the furnishings.

EVENTS, HIKING, SKIING & MORE

The nearby Gstaad and the surrounding villages are known for their top-class events. These events take place:

In spring, summer and autumn Zweisimmen is a perfect starting point for short and extended hikes. A hiking taxi takes walkers to the beautiful Seebergsee, for example. A hike along the raging Simme to the Simmenfälle rewards hikers with a breathtaking view of the Siebe Brünne - the seven waterfalls that feed the Simme. Or how about a hike to the much-sung Lauenensee?

The upper Simmental valley offers many attractions and excursion possibilities in winter. The ski areas of Gstaad-Saanenmöser-Schönried-Zweisimmen and Lenk-Adelboden invite you to extensive snowboarding and skiing. In Schönried and on Sparenmoos, with its breathtaking panoramic view of the Bernese Alps, cross-country skiers will find kilometres of perfectly groomed trails. From Sparenmoos there is also a long toboggan run down to Zweisimmen (in summer with the Fatbike). Winter hiking trails of different lengths invite you to hike and walk.

When hunger calls, first-class restaurants invite you to enjoy. A few tips:

Restaurant Hüsy. Excellent, cosy restaurant in Blankenburg with an impressive collection of silhouettes.

Brasserie zur Simme. Restaurant located in Zweisimmen with very good, regional, local cuisine.

Ristorante Pizzeria Da Corrado, Schönried: Rustic, cosy ristorante with warm service and excellent authentic Italian dishes.

Sonnenhof Restaurant, Saanen: Noble and cosy restaurant with exquisite cuisine.

Gstaad Guest Card

The Gstaad Guest Card offers guests of the Chalet numerous benefits, such as free use of public transport in the region (not in winter), discounts on the rental of sports equipment, free guided tours and more.
